Back in the day when we had never heard about Hygge, my sister came home with the idea of making our own candles.  The process involved using an empty milk carton in which a wick was steadied as we poured melted paraffin with chunks of our favourite broken wax crayons.  For variety, you might put ice in the bottom first to create those awesome designs on the outside of the candle.  Once the wax was set, you cut away the milk carton and your candle was ready to be gifted to your mom as the perfect addition to her “groovy” 60s décor!

I first stumbled across South Rock Buzz when I contemplating a move to South Surrey/ White Rock. Owned by Jenny Bray, its Instagram is full of family friendly events that helped to convince me that it was a great community to move to.

South Rock Buzz is an online community designed to connect and inform residents about all of the great things this community has to offer from highlighting local businesses, events, and other hidden gems throughout South Surrey and White Rock.

I first discovered The Mason Jar with my son, as I had been admiring their social media for months. He ran around saying “Everything is SO bee-you- ti-ful, mommy!” We have been back a few times and love how rustic and bright it is, as well as the local brands and rotating rustic décor. Every corner of this place is literally designed for Instagram. Check it out and you’ll agree. I’d love to hire Cathy to completely design my apartment.

In a community such as the Fraser Valley, there are going to be clicks and groupings that not everyone fits into. But with that being said, the community in the Valley is so vast and continues to grow each and everyday. Because of this wonderful community and “tribe” being built I have been fortunate to meet some amazing individuals; and Cait Kennedy is definitely one of them!

It’s kind of an embarrassing story, but I first stumbled across The Modern General Store with my parents when
our GPS took us on a wild goose chase while we were looking for a place to get a snack. Once we finally found
our destination, we were struck by its unexpected warm and welcoming atmosphere and commitment to local
goods and provisions. I shared that it had an “urban-hipster” feel—which is a total a bonus in my books! Our
family has returned several times and are big fans of the Sunday brunch; my hubby loves the frittata, our kiddo
loves the waffles, and I love the trendy avocado toast.
