International Overdose Day Walk & Ceremony International Overdose Awareness Day - Abbotsford
International Overdose Awareness Day is August 31. LIFE Recovery Association, in collaboration with Telecare Crisis & Caring Line, will host a memorial walk and ceremony to raise awareness in Abbotsford. The family-friendly event will take place at Mill Lake Park with registration located at the Bevan Avenue Picnic Shelter #4. The welcome and walk begin at 6:30pm, memorial ceremony starts at 7:30pm. Guests are invited to honour their loved ones by bringing a framed photo for display.

Sounds of Summer: Amber Tsang
They say, “Join us for a free concert as part of the Sounds of Summer outdoor concert series featuring Jazz duo, Amber Tsang. Join us at Francis Park as part of the Sounds of Summer free outdoor concert series. Show starts at 1:00pm. Amber Tsang and Alvin Brendan are two young up-and-coming jazz musicians based in Vancouver, BC. Despite their youth, they have shown much promise as they emerge into the Vancouver jazz scene. As a duo, their distinctive styles complement each other while also highlighting their own individual talents. Amber and Alvin combine their love of performing tin pan alley songs as well as exploring new musical avenues through collective improvisation in their music. Their arrangements aim to breathe new life into the timeless jazz standard canon and the American Songbook.”

You are invited to a live butterfly release charity community event at Fleetwood Villa, fundraising for Habitat for Humanity. Come for a lineup of live entertainment. The event is organized for seniors, but the family can come and join in on the fun. Support Habitat for Humanity – Purchase and reserve your butterflies today at our reception desk by calling 604-590-2889. $20 cash or cheque gets you a butterfly to release and a homemade decorated butterfly cookie. All cheques can be made out to Habitat and are tax deductible. There will be BBQ lunch and summer treats tent, with proceeds going towards Habitat for Humanity.
