Over the past few months I have been struggling with what kind of meals to make for myself and my two year old son. To give you a bit of perspective, I am a horrible eater and could survive on coffee and some crackers for the entire day. On the other hand, part of my bad eating habits have rubbed off on my son (who refuses to eat half the time). Also as a single parent I am not one to buy a ton of groceries just to have them in the fridge when more then half of them will probably go to waste and or won’t even get eaten just for the sake of trying to cook for one adult and one child.
It’s almost the end of January, but nowhere near the end of winter. With the Christmas fun and activities behind us, many of us are feeling trapped indoors and BORED while the stormy weather blusters outside.
The wind and rain may threaten to loom for a few more months before the sun and warmth returns to lure us outside. But that doesn’t mean that we need to stay hunkered indoors until Spring. With endless trails and unmatched natural beauty, there are hundreds of reasons to throw on your walking shoes and get some fresh air.
As a new year approaches many of us find ourselves thinking of ways to make it the best one yet, and what our resolutions will be. Like many, it can be a daunting and somewhat stressful experience trying to think of goals and resolutions and then ultimately failing within the first few weeks.

Being a mom changes you – your emotions, your outlook on life, your motivation, your priorities, and most definitely, your body. Change doesn’t have to be a bad thing. But if you’re like me, you likely struggle with how to cope and adapt when faced with THAT MUCH change.
Being business owners and part of the local entrepreneur community has given me a passion for helping others flourish in their business ventures. Especially when it comes to young people creating their own business opportunities.
When we were thinking about moving to the mainland, I started following Valley Mom after finding out that our husbands worked together. I was impressed with all of the fun events and projects she had on the go with her girls, and made the Fraser Valley look like a great place to raise a family. We met with our kids for a play-date, and were surprised we had so much in common!
Back in the day when we had never heard about Hygge, my sister came home with the idea of making our own candles. The process involved using an empty milk carton in which a wick was steadied as we poured melted paraffin with chunks of our favourite broken wax crayons. For variety, you might put ice in the bottom first to create those awesome designs on the outside of the candle. Once the wax was set, you cut away the milk carton and your candle was ready to be gifted to your mom as the perfect addition to her “groovy” 60s décor!
