What a time to be alive. Almost all the worlds information in the palm of your hand. Social media demands most of the attention to information. This is no secret. We tend to go on our favorite social platforms for inspiration, entertainment or instructionals for a variety of things. Fitness is no exception. This presents some problems, especially for beginners.

School has been out for a week or two, and I bet you’re pulling your hair out listening to the “I’m bored” and “Mom, what can I do?” all day long. It’s going to be a long summer unless you can come up with a couple of quick fun projects for the kids to do!

Crafts are such a wonderful thing for kids. Getting messy, being creative, having fun… and there is no right or wrong way to craft. I love DIY projects that check three boxes: involve the kids, result in a cute finished item, and also take longer than 5 minutes to do.

I’ve put together a small list of cute DIY projects that you can help your little ones create, or let your bigger littles tackle on their own. They all involve minimal supplies but would be easy enough to get in a pinch from the dollar store!

You hear it every summer. Your kids are done school and suddenly have all this time off. Then comes the dreaded 3 words… “Mom, I’m bored!” So, today I’ve put together some Summer Boredom Buster ideas to avoid those three words, or give them something to do when they say those three words!

My favourite is the “Are You Bored?” poster. It’s an acrostic using the word BORED.

Have you…

Do you ever feel like you are constantly weighed down by your cell phone, pressing emails, social media and all the other devices we feel we need to be plugged in to? I know I do. All too often I find myself aimlessly scrolling through Facebook or Pinterest and before I know it, it’s been over an hour and I’ve been ignoring my husband and kids!

While technology has brought us many great things, it’s also brought a lot more stress. Being connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week has taken its toll on us both mentally and physically. Luckily, summer is a great time to take a bit of a technology detox. There are so many other things we could be doing with our time… especially at summertime!

Assume that there and rules for any gym or public place, social or otherwise. Gyms generally post their rules and “Mission Statement” on the wall. Those rules should be adhered to of course and maybe a couple could be broken. You might not know, but there are other rules that won’t be posted and that’s where this short list will help you out.

“If you get through the door, you’re already winning”

The gym experience is different for everyone. How we perceive gyms and gym culture is going to differ. That being said, there are ways to understand this new world if you have never set foot in a gym or changing to another. Thinking of them as anything other than positive places is simply a waste of time and energy.
