As I walked up to the gorgeous heritage facade of The Penny Coffee on Mission’s historic 1st Ave, I was immediately struck by the carefully renovated exterior, which stands out bold and blue on a street lined with brick red and brown. Without even setting foot inside the space, I could tell the interior was going to be beautiful- and I was not disappointed.

If you haven’t been yet, High Street Shopping Centre in Abbotsford is one of the Fraser Valley’s most unique and inclusive shopping malls ever. The open-air mall combines a high-quality shopping experience with a vast selection of food venues.

While High Street is the perfect place to take care of literally all of your errands for the day, we also think it is the perfect place for a date night! Here’s why:

I’ve been drooling over Madeline Bee’s Instagram feed for quite some time and had to stop by to say hi and see the store in person. I loved the clean brightness & artfully eclectic mix of vintage and modern textures, furniture and gifts. My son and I were warmly welcomed, and I kept on saying “I can’t wait to own a house again so I have room for all of this amazing furniture & home décor!”

Madeline Bee is co-owned by mother & daughter team Jacqueline & Brianna Webb, who have lived inWhite Rock since 2010 and 2012. They said, “We love living in a seaside community- White Rock is one of the most beautiful cities we have ever seen and feel very privileged to live here”.

It’s market season here in the Fraser Valley. From now until January you are guaranteed to find some sort of Autumn or Christmas market happening throughout the Fraser Valley area. What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to check out some of the local artisans that the Fraser Valley has to offer! You might even be able to get some Christmas shopping done early this year.

Before figuring out which markets you plan on attending, there are a few things you need to know that will help make your market experience successful. We’ve come up with the top 4 things you should do before attending your first market this year!

Artisan markets are popping up everywhere, but the Chilliwack Market Mamas have quite the knack for planning amazing markets to support small local shops and charities around town.

Handmade items are my favorite to purchase. I love the fact that buying handmade products support the families who live in my community. Lucky for me, the Chilliwack Market Mamas have me covered with lots of pop-up artisan markets for me to attend! Last weekend, they hosted over 80 local vendors at a market on Promontory Road. Admission was FREE… which is always a good motivator to get me to spend more money at the booths! There was a charity raffle at the front door, and all proceeds raised were donated to the Starfish Pack program.

I’m looking forward to joining licenced realtor Amy Dewaele and mortgage professional Rebecca Casey for an evening with local likeminded women who share an entrepreneurial passion November 7, 2017. 7:00-9:00 pm at TAP Restaurant, 101 15350 34 Ave South Surrey, BC.

The evening will be full of opportunities to meet with other local business owners in the South Surrey + White Rock neighbourhood.

The seasons have changed. I’m taking a close look at my closet and deciding how I’ll update my wardrobe from summer to fall.  I’ve been streamlining my overwhelming mountain of clothes into a capsule wardrobe of good quality essentials, including my new West Coast Leslie Designs gray infinity scarf.

West Coast Leslie Designs aims to make an impact in the “fast fashion” world.  Leslie Kuny makes products that are heirloom quality, meaning you can invest in a WCLD scarf or blanket and know you can use it for years without it falling apart.

After working as an executive in legal expense insurance for over 30 years, Ilona Scott found herself at odds between her managerial role and her own values.  The stress caused an inner crisis that could only be resolved by leaving the position that had brought her from South Africa to Canada.

Ilona decided to use this time out to write a book about people management and leadership.  Starting her own peri peri sauce business was not in her plans.  That was just a happy accident.
