Surrey-based artist Pam Assi uses vivid colours and strong lines in her acrylic paintings to express what interests her about the subject. The pandemic is responsible for opening up a new subject matter for her: birds in her garden. “They helped me through these isolated times,” she says. Every painting has a story, and it is through these stories that Assi describes how she sees the “human quality” of the birds and their interaction with each other and with humans. In this illustrated talk, Assi will also touch on her artistic journey of how growing up in the UK in the 60s and attending art college there influenced her art and her life.
