It’s never too early to start planning for Canada Day! This is one of my favourite holidays of the summer. There’s something about coming together as Canadians to celebrate our country. If you’re looking for something to do this year, here are some of the things going on in the Fraser Valley:
Chilliwack
The City of Chilliwack is hosting its annual Canada Day celebrations at Townsend Park this year. Kickoff is at 11am, come and enjoy vendors and music culminated with a fantastic firework show at the end around 10pm. Greg Neufeld is the headliner for this event this year.
Abbotsford
The Parade!! Who doesn’t love a good parade?!? Abbotsford has a great one for Canada Day. The theme this year is “Super Hero.” Parade starts at 11am at Ware and South Fraser Way and heads over to Exhibition Park.
After the parade there is lots of free family fun at Exhibition Park. Celebrate with free concerts and many other family friendly activities. At the end of the night, there will be a firework show to cap it all off!
Langley
Langley has two great events happening on Canada Day. One is in Fort Langley; the other is at Willoughby Park.
Fort Langley
The event runs from 11am-3pm at the Langley Centennial Museum. Last year there was even a pancake breakfast. They say there is loads of entertainment and family fun! And of course, it’s FREE!
Willoughby Park
Willoughby Park, right beside the Langley Events Centre, is hosting another celebration of Canada Day this year! It goes from 11am until 6pm. Some of the entertainment this year includes shows by Science World and the Greater Vancouver Zoo. Fantastic for kids! There’s also a spray park, playground and food trucks, and a KidsZone with face-painting, mini-golf, crafts and lots of other things for the kids to enjoy!
Other Events
If you want to travel a little bit further out of the Fraser Valley and check out some other events around BC, here are some great ones!
- Canada Day at Canada Place (Canada Place and surrounding area)
Performances, Citizenship ceremony, KidsZone, food trucks, fireworks… this party has something for everyone. It’s a lot of fun if you don’t mind a bit of a crowd.
- Surrey (Bill Reid Memorial Amphitheatre)
Surrey knows how to do Canada right! There are 4 stages with Our Lady Peace and Bif Naked headlining this years’ shows. Also featuring Amusement rides, rodeo, food trucks, KidsZone and tons of exhibitors. This is another great family event!
