The Elgin/Chantrell area starts at King George Boulevard, west to 140th Street, south to 20th Avenue, west to 128th Street, and north up to Crescent Road.
The Elgin area has an interesting history. In 1886 it was declared as a customs entry port. Eventually, with the ports of White Rock and Douglas opening, it caused the success of the Elgin Port to fade and close.
Schools and Parks
In or close to Elgin are one high school, four elementary schools, and a number of parks including Elgin Heritage Park, Victoria Memorial Park, Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest Park, South Surrey Athletic Park, Chantrell Creek Park, and Crescent Park.
Crescent Park is a large 128-acre park. That has sports fields, covered picnic shelters, and forested trails. In addition to its beautiful natural areas, the eastern portions of Crescent Park offer a range of park amenities including two baseball diamonds, a large multi-purpose field, upgraded tennis, and pickleball courts, and a playground. There are two parking lots that can be accessed from 132 Street.
The nature trail around Crescent Park is around 3.8 km long. Allow 1 to 1.5 hours for this walk.1
Nico Wynd Golf Course
