    Event Details:

What would make Dustin Bentall and JJ Shiplett want bring their highly acclaimed, passionate music to Bez?

We are beginning to learn why. Artists crave performing in a room where the sound is great, the space is intimate and the audience can personally connect. This is where the magic happens, we are transported and the power of music to create real community is experienced. So, it turns out, a big part of the answer is you.

Dustin Bentall hails from Vancouver, BC and it seems an unlikely place to nurture such a rustic troubadour. It seemed like an unlikely country for Rick Danko, Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel or Neil Young to be from… until people took a closer look. Up here you’ll find as deep a frontier spirit and hard luck charm as any nation. You’ll find a reverence for the tales of everyday life and loss and you’ll find a lot of people who have time to woodshed and learn their craft. Spinning songs by Neil Young, The Band, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Tom T. Hall, The Beatles, Wilco and Steve Earle Dustin found the heart of that music and placed it under his own landscapes.

Rugged, raspy and reserved, JJ Shiplett is a true artist. Unapologetically himself, the Alberta born singer-songwriter and performer is bold in range and musical creativity, with a passion and reverence for the art of music and performance that has captured the attention of music fans across the country. A troubadour whose songs resonate with emotional sincerity and an underdog’s enduring hope, he pens anthemic songs that make you believe in something in this hard world, and others that convince you to soak it all in whiskey ‘n’ wine and just go dancin’. Shiplett’s music is all heart: convincing, compelling and resonant.
